I swear, I'm trying to be nice

but I have to point out one error in this Herald story about the recent stabbing at an Eastie restaurant (which by the way was not gang related--just a generic bar fight). The Herald identified La Terraza as a "Maverick Sq. restaurant," however, the restaurant is located at 19 Bennington Street, which again, is nowhere near Maverick Square as shown on this map. Maybe I'm just being pedantic?

The Globe also has a surprisingly detailed story on this incident. La Terraza must be loving all this publicity.

Yeah, I'd call that Central Square, not Maverick, personally. But I do find it intriguing that you chose to map it out to include an extra 2/10ths of a mile just to go 3/4ths of the way around Maverick Square. It's only 4/10ths of a mile from 19 Bennington to the outside edge of Maverick Square (I used #95 Mav. Sq. on that mapping site for comparison's sake), rather than 6/10ths when measured using 14 Mav. Sq., as you did. Still, the Herald is wrong, as you said. Saying that restaurant is in Maverick Square is like saying I live in Chelsea just because I'm less than 1/2 a mile from the Pearl St. Bridge.

14 Mav. Sq is the address of Store 24. That was just the first thing I thought of in Maverick Square and it was easy to look up. Mostly, I just wanted to get someplace that would show where Mav. Sq. is in relation to Bennington St., I wasn't even thinking in terms of mileage.

That makes perfect sense, Marilora! I was just looking at the drawing and noticed that it included an extra loop around the square .... Still, I totally got your point, and you're right. :-)
