Sell a condo get some IKEA

I learned this from the The Morning Call of Lehigh Valley, PA. Apparently the developers of Porter 156 were offering current residents $1000 IKEA gift certificates if they could find buyers for still available units. Hmmmm. Isn't a standard real estate commission somewhere around 6%? Seems like somebody was getting shafted.
. . .Porter 156, [is] a 217-unit condo conversion completed last fall in a former bra factory. The building, in East Boston, has about 25 unsold new loft-style units and 25 just-purchased units on the market for $300,000 to the mid-$600,000s, local agent Brian Perry says. That has prompted its developers, ELV Associates and Metric Construction, to turn to residents for help: During the December holidays, the developers left cards in owners' apartments offering a $1,000 gift certificate to Ikea for owners who found buyers for any remaining units.

Premier Exhibition in Medford

An announcement about a new gallery in downtown Medford via Sand T. of artSPACE @ 16:
Pigmentia Studio and Gallery, a newly opened gallery in downtown Medford is presenting its premier exhibition entitled The Green Show. Nineteen artists were selected by gallery owner Lisa Tang Liu to participate in this show. Artwork on display includes paintings, drawings, photographs, and mixed media work - all of which depict the essence of the color green. While green often symbolizes natural life and the arrival of spring, it can also represent a magical atmosphere and state of mind, an escape from our “sidewalk society” to a natural Eden where we encounter the peace of our dreams and overcome the fears of our past. Among the artists participating in the show are: Adele Travisano (Medford), Jim Fesler (Lexington), Christina Richards (New York), Iris Osterman (Lincoln), Michael Seif (Watertown), Fran Forman (Watertown) , Patricia Saunders (Medford), Soh H. Tan Kalloch (Malden), Nadine Boughton (Medford), Joan McCandlish (Medford), John Schneider (Somerville), Jim Jackson (Cambridge), M. Steve McCauley (Malden), Tim Barner (Medford), Tamara Major (Medford), Carolyn Dinsmoor (Medford), Amy McGregor-Radin (Newton), Jonathan Donahue (Medford), and Lisa Tang Liu (Medford). The public is cordially invited to the opening reception on Friday, March 3, 2006 from 6 to 9pm. Pigmentia Studio & Gallery is located at 13 Forest St, Medford, MA 02155.
